Umrah Packing Checklist
Pack the essentials without carrying unnecessary weight. Tick items as you prepare, then print a clean copy for your final luggage check.
Pack for your route, health and season—not somebody else’s suitcase
Your airline allowance, trip length, hotel laundry, weather, medical needs and whether you enter ihram during the flight all affect this list. Start with essentials, then add personal items only when they solve a real need.
Before departure: verify current visa, health, airline baggage, battery, medicine and security requirements with the relevant official provider. Rules can change.

Documents and travel details
Keep originals secure and encrypted digital copies accessible to a trusted companion.
Essential hand luggage
Pack anything you cannot safely manage without if checked baggage is delayed.
Ihram and worship essentials
Choose simple, lightweight items that are easy to carry in crowded areas.
Everyday clothing
Pack for the season, air-conditioned interiors and frequent washing rather than bringing too many outfits.
Health and medication
Ask a clinician what is appropriate for your conditions; do not use a generic list as medical advice.
Toiletries and personal care
Use travel sizes and leak-proof bags. Products used after entering ihram should be fragrance-free.
Phone and electronics
Keep cables together and confirm airline rules for batteries before departure.
Family, seniors and children
Assign one adult to documents and another to medicines or mobility equipment.
Avoid problems
Items to remove or verify before packing
Restricted medicines
Check Saudi rules and carry prescriptions or supporting letters. Never carry medicine for another person.
Power banks in checked bags
Keep permitted power banks and spare lithium batteries in cabin baggage according to airline rules.
Oversized liquids
Follow departure-airport security limits and use leak-proof travel containers.
Valuable jewellery
Leave unnecessary valuables at home. Worship and crowded movement are easier with fewer possessions.
Scented ihram products
Avoid intentionally using fragrance after entering ihram; prepare unscented alternatives.
Too much luggage
Heavy luggage complicates airport transfers, hotel movement and vehicle capacity. Weigh every bag.
Luggage-friendly transport
Tell us how many passengers and bags
Share suitcase count, wheelchair or stroller details and your route before booking so the vehicle can be matched to your group.

Umrah packing FAQs
What should I pack in hand luggage for Umrah?
Keep travel documents, essential medicine, valuables, phone and charger, one change of clothes, medical aids and ihram garments needed before crossing the miqat in hand luggage. Follow airline liquid and battery rules.
How many ihram sets should a man pack?
Two clean sets are practical for most journeys because one can be worn while the other is washed or drying. Trip length, laundry access and baggage allowance may change this.
What should women pack specifically for Umrah?
Pack loose modest clothing, comfortable footwear, hijabs, hygiene supplies and small clean scissors for private hair trimming after sa’i. There is no required special color for women’s ihram clothing.
Should medicines go in checked baggage?
Essential medicine should stay in hand luggage where possible, in original labelled packaging. Carry the prescription or clinician letter needed for restricted, injectable or temperature-sensitive medication.
Can I bring a power bank to Saudi Arabia?
Airlines generally require spare lithium batteries and power banks in cabin baggage, but capacity and labeling limits vary. Check the operating airline’s current dangerous-goods policy before packing.
Do I need to bring a prayer mat to the Haram?
It is not normally necessary inside the mosques. A small lightweight mat may help during travel or outdoor stops, but avoid adding items that make movement difficult.
How can I avoid overpacking for Umrah?
Plan repeatable outfits, choose quick-dry fabrics, use hotel laundry where available and coordinate shared family items. Weigh luggage before leaving and keep space for the return journey.
